I don't even remember what I spent my 2010 year doing. I always seem to remember the unimportant things, like what shirt my best friend's mom wore the day we went apple picking, or what toppings a friend put on his ice cream sundae one night, and even what the colors of my dad's birthday candles were. They were pink, the only colors we had left in the house. I wonder if one day these little details will come together and spell something life-changing out for me, but as time goes on, I'm more convinced that I just have a very selective memory. But is it the big events that matter in life, or the little details that mean the most? Happy New Year.
I know just what you mean, Hannah! It's funny the way those subtle details stick with you, when the bigger aspects of an experience sometime have no sticking power in your memory. And, as far as the passage of time, it seems that the older one gets the faster time speeds by, or maybe it's just that the value of time has more meaning? I'm not sure. Your blog looks like it's shaping up to be a wonderful place to visit, and it's one place where I look forward to spending some of 2011's time!

Jane!
ReplyDeleteYour comment is the first comment I've ever received and I thank you so much for that. I completely agree with you when you say that as you get older, time seems to go by faster. I feel it every year. I think all we can do is make the best of every moment, every day, no matter how cliche that sounds.
I also enjoy reading your blog! I spend hours at a time on it. Everything looks so delicious :)
Have a nice day!
